4  Disasters of the Day

Government reports state that 90% of our citizens
would DIE
after ANY major long term disaster.

With minor inexpensive preparations
these people could survive
!

ONLY 7% of citizens are currently prepared.
That means that 93% (283 MILLION) will be unprepared, hungry, thirsty, armed
and very dangerous !

When you are prepared everyone that isn't puts you and your family at risk.  Prepare and then inspire your family, friends and everyone you meet to "properly" prepare for a long term disaster! It's VERY EASY and inexpensive (VERY cost effective) to do

The more citizens that are prepared for a disaster the more prepared and "safer" our nation as a whole will be and that makes my family AND YOURS safer !   "Citizen Preparedness" is a real national security issue and it does have a REAL workable solution.  Prepare TODAY because one secopnd after disaster strikes is one second too late and may become a (very avoidable) death sentence for your and your loved ones !

Ready.Gov "Disaster Preparedness" PSA

Government Advice for Disaster Preparedness:

3 days of food & water !

Can you survive a 2 month disaster with ONLY 3 days of food and a "Bug Out Bag"?
Prepare for a LONG TERM Disaster & anything shorter will be survivable!

My "Food for Thought" PSA below is designed to make people think about   Long Term Preparedness & Survival and then to take the next step (action).

Long Term Disaster Preparedness, Survival, and Safety

If you only prepare for a 3 day disaster, a short 2 week disaster can easily (and quite avoidably) become a life and death situation BUT if you prepare for a long term disaster then anything less will only become a chance to test your gear and skills as you help your neighbor in their greatest time of need!   The government can not and will not prepare you nor can they be counted upon to save you!

Your preparedness (protecting your loved ones) is YOUR responsibility !

*
Since most boaters spend the majority of their time on land, I have designed these seminars to equally address people's land based preparations and survival.

I do believe everyone should at least own a small dinghy which is fun but can be a life saver in a flood or if you need to fish for food.   A small $40 department store type inflatable dinghy is better than nothing in an emergency.  Stronger larger ones like the Intex Seahawk are only $150.  I have one of these with a $100 electric motor and like it a lot.  It's a great lake dinghy for very little money.  Inflatables made for boaters to use on the ocean start at around $1,000.

I have fun and inexpensive (yet priceless in an emergency) $600 sail kit that fits on all of my dinghies which allows me to save fuel (gas or battery time) and fish quietly without a gas sheen trailing on top of the water behind or around me.  If you can afford it, a cruising sailboat is the world's best piece of survival gear because you can travel the world with just the wind,
effortlessly and rapidly (about 100 miles per day or more) flee a danger zone and carry all of your food, gear and loved ones in extreme comfort and safety under long term post disaster conditions.

Main Topics Covered In The Seminars

Anyone can use these topics & tips as a guideline for research & to prepare.

  • Proper food and water storage, ample clean water generation (from the most simple and inexpensive to the more complex and expensive systems) and ample food regeneration:  If you are properly prepared you can eat tomatoes, potatoes, ham and eggs vs bugs, rats and cats.  The choice is yours!   It is easy to become "properly" prepared once you know how and decide to do it.  Water storage is important but being able to desalinate and/or purify your own water is a real lifesaver. What will amaze you the most is how little it costs and how easy it is to "properly" prepare.

Some Food for Thought and Tips
:  If you have several million dollars or only $10 extra dollars a week you can "properly" prepare.  If you have any money invested in anything and do not prepare for a disaster then your greed has overruled your common sense and that may easily result in a (quite avoidable) death sentence.   Yours.   Sadly, the day that some people really understand that will be 1 day too late for them.  If you have 100% of your excess money invested in anything (and gold and silver etc might be a great idea) but you have no food, water or security after any major long term disaster, you really have nothing.  You can not expect someone to trade you a can of corn for gold when they have their own children to feed.

Store up foods that you normally consume and you can actually save a lot of money doing it. You will keep your stores fresh as you cycle through and replace them vs only having large cans of strange food items collecting dust on a shelf.  Most things I recommend can be used in your normal daily life.  You need at least 1 yr of food to make it thorough 1 growing season to generate a continued food supply.  I recommend normal foods for that but for maximum preparation you should have an extra 1 to 2 years of long term storable foods such as dehydrated and MREs etc because your green thumb might not fully bloom in your first year of gardening, canning and dehydrating.  Also, if 93% of citizens are still not prepared you may have to spend the first year in an extremely low visibility situation until the majority of people / armed pillagers etc have died via starvation, dehydration, disease, extreme temperatures & bullets.

When something is on sale buy several or even an entire case or more if you can afford it.   Just $12 buys 4 jars of Ragu (on sale for $2 vs $3 regular price) and 4 Lbs of macaroni (at $1 per Lb) which is 16 meals total.   If you buy 50 jars (four 12 jar cases) and 50 Lbs of macaroni your total cost is ONLY $150 (you easily SAVED $50 or 25%) and have 200 great normal dinner meals total!   Add some tuna or fresh fish and your eating very well and have food you will consume (and replace) in your normal daily life.

I used that example to illustrate how easy and cost effective it can be to become prepared and eat well.  You actually save money so it is like being paid to prepare!  The smaller your budget the more reason you have to stock up.    As I said, almost everything I recommend doing will save you money and is something that you can use in your daily life vs sitting on a shelf collecting dust and being broken or worthless when you need it the most.

    Food Regeneration tips:

This topic takes a seminar to cover in detail but here is some good food for thought.

I love the tip that Mr. Eattheweeds told me:
He said you can live on tomatoes and eggs. Hummm, We grow great tomatoes and a few chickens make tastier breeding pets than a kid's pet dog, cat or rat.
The choice to prepare is yours and yours alone!

  •

The Mormons stock up 1 years worth of food but if they do not also have seeds, garden tools and knowledge to use them then when their food runs out they may die. That is assuming that pillagers did not take their supplies and/or lives first which yes, can be avoided with forethought and preparation.

Only buy Heirloom seeds that grow new seeds that will reproduce (NOT genetically modified seeds). For preparedness, buy seeds that will grow well in a warm climate and some seeds that will do well in a cooler or cold climate. In a long term disaster situation you may wisely move from an extremely hot or cold climate.   Buy some very well built garden tools.   A shovel and spade are useful for many jobs besides gardening.

    PRACTICE
!   Even if you only have a condo with a small porch you can research and build a vertical garden and really enjoy your great tasting healthy foods while again, saving money!   We get 2 crops of tomatoes (in the winter) from our 5 ft tall 1 1/2 yr old indoor tomato plant in North Dakota.   It's healthy and exciting educational fun for the whole family too!

  • Protecting your survival supplies and family in a worse case long term disaster scenario:  When possible, the best way to win a battle or war is to avoid it but if you must defend yourself I will teach you how to think outside of the box about security defenses and easy to make weapons of (major) shock and awe as well as evasion and escape!  Post Long Term Disaster, the ability to transport you and your family and your gear (vs being locked into one place) is in itself a real major life saver. Passing on to you what I learned via my USMC and other unique life experiences will help you gain very valuable advantages in many bad or life and death situations!   I have personally used these techniques in real "life or death" situations and since I am still here I would have to say they are tested, proven and have worked every time thus far.  And no, you do not have to be a Marine or even strong but you do need this knowledge and a brain that works.

  • Protecting your wealth:  Disclaimer: I am not a financial advisor and I do not offer financial advice (seek your financial advisor's advice and/or always use your own good common sense).  That said, your health is your wealth but my common (survival) sense has taught me that gold and silver are great but if you are hungry one tomato has more value and one tomato seed is worth many tomatoes.  Stock up on what you or other people would spend their gold and silver on because you can always use it yourself or barter with that type of "real wealth".  Even if no disaster befell us (not likely), the price of those items would go up with inflation (devaluation of the dollar etc) increasing the value (investment) of what you have stored.  Keep your real valuables very secure and always keep some crumbs around for the pillagers and confiscators.   In a major long term disaster situation when nothing is being produced again, a very inexpensive toothbrush or fish hook will have a lot of "real value".   In that situation you might not be willing to trade one very inexpensive fish hook for an entire bar of gold!

  • The safest and most dangerous places on earth and in your own area:  Obviously knowing this information, how to assess your personal situation and your options, is a major life saver.

  • Four (4) very deadly mistakes that the (self-sufficient) Amish, Mormons (who store 1 yr of food), and even the government with self-sufficient underground mini-city fortresses have made and how you can avoid them:  You can actually use their mistakes to your advantage.

  • How to easily and inexpensively create your own massive database with everything from farming, fishing and safe plants to eat to detailed medical information and more:  Thanks to today's technology, this entire massive database can fit in the palm of your hand!

  • How to protect all of your electronics from EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse): Learn how you can harden or EMP proof your most valuable electronics such as a short wave radio etc or entire boat, car, business and/or home (like the government has for many years).  Again, it is very easy and extremely inexpensive to at least have your most important "lifeline" electronics protected.

  • NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) and plague preparedness and survival:  What you do not know, you can not do, and that can easily get you killed.   Learn the common and uncommon factors related to each of these, how to avoid those situations when possible and how to greatly increase your odds of surviving (if you are not at ground zero during a nuke strike etc of course).

  • Building your own personal disaster response / survival teams to Red Cross Neighborhood Associations:  There is a lot of great free assistance and training programs available to everyone.  Learn about them and use it all to your advantage.  Sooner or later in life you will need it.

  • How to rig your boat (and even your dinghies) for maximum comfort, safety and long term disaster survival as well as "self rescue systems":   I am not talking about rescue slings.  These  "self rescue systems" use current technology to insure the fastest possible self rescue.  You are your best first responder and often, seconds count.  Best of all, properly rigging your boat for "long term survival" and maximum safety does not have to be difficult or costly.

  • Alternative Fuel and Propulsion Systems:  There are several inexpensive ways to reduce your fuel consumption 50% or even 100%.  I explore all of the major proven options available including very inexpensive engine, generator, car and boat conversions.  You will learn how you can generate your own fuel (for engines, cooking, lighting and even refrigeration), electricity and more (like making medicines and oils) because after any major long term disaster fuel deliveries, electricity etc will be nonexistent.  If you can not make it you most likely will not have it.  Best of all, using this knowledge can save you a lot of money!  It really pays to prepare !!!!!!!

  • The real boat buying and selling secrets:  How to sell your boat a lot faster and for it's true full value as well as how to save many thousands of dollars when buying a new or used boat.

  • Proper boat maintenance that can save your life and maximize the value of your boat when selling:  From recreational boaters to full time professional boaters I am always amazed when I poll them individually or collectively and find that the vast majority of them are grossly lacking in this area.  I can guarantee that the majority of boaters that hear this information will say that they learned a lot of new information that can save their boat, save their life and save them a ton of money too!

  • How to operate a sail or power boat more safely especially in the most challenging of conditions:  This is life saving information for newcomers and a great refresher for ole salts too.

  • And of course, the world's best "land and sea" safety and survival information:  Learn what you need to know to protect your boat, crew and loved ones better than 99%+++ of all other recreational boaters and even better than many professional fulltime boaters.   Learn how to avoid a disaster or survive an unavoidable disaster at sea or on land (even a major extremely long term disaster) with a maximum of comfort and safety.   This knowledge can save your life even if you will never own a boat.

*** The more citizens that prepare (and/or become more self-sufficient), the safer those of us that are prepared (and our nation as a whole and thus MY FAMILY), will ALL be!   Your lack of "proper" preparation does directly put our nation's citizens and MY FAMILY at an increased risk.  Assume your most important personal responsibility and PLEASE at least start thinking about disaster preparedness.

* I cover other related topics but those are some of the major ones.
Seminars may consist of one or more or all of these topics.

Survival Bio Information In Brief

1950s Being born 4th from the oldest in a family of 12 children and raised on a farm in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY I learned at an early age the "life or death" importance of being very self-sufficient and prepared for everything.  From being totally isolated during long term blizzards every winter to medical emergencies with help hours away, it all was the expected, experienced yearly and handled as "normal life" where I grew up.

We had a couple of months every winter that our school bus (a small van) could not make it up to our hill top farm.  We would phone in for our homework and be available to work on the farm many more hours every day feeding, watering and cleaning all of our farm animals (twice a day) as well as taking care of our family of 14 (parents + children).

We also had to keep our well water running (at times it was 60 below zero with very high winds / wind chill factor).   When our running water quit working we would have to dig the snow covered well out and spend hours carrying 5 gallon pails of water to take care of our family of 14 and all of our farm animals (and all in the very harshest of conditions imaginable).   You could say I was born and raised with a healthy diet of being totally self sufficient and survival savvy to the max.

These childhood experiences have served me well in my later life.

1960s at age 16 I enlisted in the USMC (with my parents written consent).
USMC 1967-70 (Vietnam 1968-69).  By age 20 my Secret Clearance was upgraded to "Final Top Secret" for State Dept duty (which was voluntary duty).  I opted not to volunteer (re-enlist) opting instead to return to civilian life where oddly, I was soon working with our Federal government via the office of the Vice President.  As you can surmise, I acquired and used more survival training and skills in the USMC that have also served me well over these many years.

1970s I began sailing.   My first cruise of a few thousand miles took me through the Bahamas, Caribbean, to South America and back to the USA as we encountered everything from pirates to hurricanes.   Spending not days but weeks totally exhausted while sailing in several back to back hurricanes along with the other emergencies that we handled at sea was one of the greatest learning experiences of my life.   I strongly cared about boating safety before we set sail but it was that first cruise (and surviving it) that set me on the course of making safety a major life long priority.

After that first cruise I joined Youngs Yacht Sales and boatyard to learn about boat maintenance and boat building.   It was one of our nation's largest such facilities located in New Orleans LA where we built the NY 40 yachts for the New York Yacht Club.   I started at the bottom doing bottom jobs and worked up to their top job of driving the 18 wheeler hulling NY 40s as well as many other boats nationwide.  That OJT took about 3 years and was a great learning experience.  During the 1970s and 1980s I mostly worked in entertainment and multimedia (radio, newspapers and TV).

1980s I created, produced and hosted the first national boating safety TV series "Captain's Log" on TLC (The Learning Channel) from 1987 to 1990.  I put on seminars at Yacht Clubs and other organizations about boating safety and the need to provide on the water sailing instruction for children to make boating and safety a part of their life at an early age.   I also instructed safety officers on large ships (several hundred feet long) as well as participating in many other boating and safety related events and organizations.

1990s - 2000s I went cruising with my wife for six years while doing on the water R & D (research and development) designing and testing new boat systems and equipment to increase boater's safety, survivability and comfort.

2010 I am consulting and doing seminars designed to educate and motivate boaters and land dwellers about proper survival preparation and safety (on land or at sea).

Each citizen that increases their safety via preparedness and becomes more independent will make our nation safer and more independent which makes all of us (my family included) a lot safer!  That is my main motivation.

* My full resume' is extensive but this is a very brief overview of my "land and sea" education and experience as it relates to boating and land based "safety, preparedness and survival".

Yellowstone National Park - OVER 1,000 Earthquakes In Last 5 Days
Yellowstone is a HUGE Volcano system (perhaps the largest in the world) and it is attributed with killing the Dinosaurs when it blew  long ago (ending life as we know it on the ENTIRE EARTH)!

Normally the park gets 1,600 earthquakes A YEAR not 1,000 in 5 days.  They are now at 3.7 and IF they hit 4.0 there will be increased monitoring for the first minor signs of Volcanic activity.

Simply put, there are many things on earth that could rapidly or instantly end life AS WE NOW KNOW IT and it only makes sense to be prepared.

Learn about LONG TERM DISASTER PREPAREDNESS and SURVIVAL today while you have plenty of time and money (which may become worthless after any major disaster unlike a can of corn or seeds).
